Economical Renovations to Create a BSL-3 Tuberculosis Research Laboratory

Colorado State University

Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Challenge:

Economically renovate and create a primary containment environment for a tuberculosis research laboratory within an existing space that meets BSL-3 research guidelines.

Solution:

Create a negative pressure environment that maximizes floor space by designing an architectural renovation into the existing room.

Results:

100% HEPA-filtered exhaust from primary containment enclosure. Anteroom supports donning and doffing procedures and creates a buffer zone between the containment space and the corridor.
